# Data sources

> Upload and manage financial data

Data sources are the foundation for dashboards and AI reports. You can upload financial data as a file or, as a super administrator, retrieve it automatically via the DATEV interface.

## Upload a file

1. Click "Data sources" in the sidebar
2. Select a company from the dropdown list
3. Select the accounting source: DATEV, BMD, or other
4. Drag and drop the file into the upload area or click to select a file
5. Supported formats: CSV, XLSX, XLS

### Automatic DATEV file processing

If you select "DATEV" as the accounting source, the uploaded CSV file is processed automatically:

* The DATEV CSV is converted into a structured Excel file
* A progress bar shows the processing progress
* Once processed, the file is available for dashboards and reports

## View data sources

Below the upload area, you see a list of all data sources for the selected company. This list includes both uploaded files and data retrieved via the DATEV interface.

## Download a file

Click the download icon next to a file to download it.

## Replace a file

To replace a file with a newer version:

1. Click the replace icon
2. A warning shows which reports use this file and could be affected
3. Upload the new file
4. The old file is replaced

## Delete a file

1. Click the delete icon next to a file
2. Confirm the deletion

## DATEV interface

Super administrators can use the DATEV API interface to retrieve financial data automatically, without uploading files manually. For details, see the [DATEV integration](/en/finanzdash-datev) page.
